Criminal Party is an historical italian garage band, founded in 1986 by Fabio Vinciguerra, guitarist and songwriter. It was in the eighties one of the first national groups that played garage-punk with lyrics in Italian and female voice. At the beginning the activity of the band was discontinuous, in fact after several local concerts and a participation in a Rai-regional radio program on the most interesting emerging groups of the period, the band broke up in 1988. Some tracks of this period have been inserted as bonus tracks in the 1st CD released in 1999.
The band was reformed by Fabio Vinciguerra in the second half of the 90s and finally in 1999 was released the first homonymous CD that contains songs that mix the garage-punk sound of the beginnings with psychedelic influences in a rock context. This CD was well acclaimed and the presentation of the CD was sold out. But unfortunately, after the participation at different festival, at the end of a TIM tour presented by Red Ronnie and Vanessa Incontrada, the band broke up again in 2001.
Reformed in 2012, the new band, with other members, produced a new EP only digital, which came out in 2014.
This new release, entitled “Votate me”, was produced by the newborn label Downbeat & Pink house and distributed by Believedigital.
The 5 tracks contained range from garage-punk influences of “Governo di ladri” to the psychedelic-pop of “Votate me” (unpublished composition dating back to 1993, previously recorded only as a demo). Inside it’s also included the cover of “Ognuno è libero” that Luigi Tenco recorded in 1966.
At the end of 2016, with the entry of two new vocalists, another new CD, also physical, came out : “La revolution bourgeoise”. It contains 16 tracks plus a new version of “1986”, previously recorded as a demo in the ’80s (the original version was inserted as a bonus track in the first CD). The sound of this CD has a punk sound, more than the previous released, especially the Californian one of the late ’70s, “colored” by garage / psychedelic influences. It has been reviewed by some of the major international music magazines and has enjoyed several radio passages (see facebook page for details). <https://www.facebook.com/criminalparty1/> <https://www.facebook.com/DownbeatPinkHouse). A new remastered version of the CD was released in 2017.
